Tomorrow

What to think about when you think about tomorrow.

Proverbs 27:1 – Don’t boast about tomorrow for you don’t know what a day might bring.

The above quote is from the Bible in a section prescribed as wisdom literature. The verse tells me not to boast about tomorrow, if that’s so, then what am I supposed to do with tomorrow? If I’m not to boast in tomorrow, are tomorrows good for nothing?

Of course tomorrows aren’t good for nothing! Bless God, no! There are many great things to look forward to tomorrow; many great days ahead; many good things God has planned for us, tomorrow.

What if I told you the Christian knows exactly what they’re supposed to do with tomorrow?

The Christian looks forward to tomorrow with patience and confidence. How? The Christian knows that no matter what happens tomorrow, it will work out for the good of the Christian.

But here’s the deal – while the Christian won’t boast about tomorrow, the Christian won’t be afraid of tomorrow. The Christian won’t brag about tomorrow, but the Christian won’t fret about it either.

Here’s what the Christian is going to do about tomorrow:

  • the Christian is going to remember that our time is in His hands. (Ps31:15)
  • the Christian is going to remember that all things submit to Him. (James4:7)
  • the Christian is going to remember that everything is under His rule and reign. (Eph1:11)
  • the Christian is going to remember that the time we have right now is a gift of inconspicuous providence within His kingdom reign. (Romans8:31-39)
  • the Christian is going to remember that the time we have right now is full of countless things we simply do not understand, but our confidence is not in our ability to know or understand, but His alone – and He is trustworthy. (Isaiah55:8; Romans8:28)
  • the Christian is going to remember that if He can know the number of hairs on my head, holds the whole world in the hull of His hands, then My worry of pride in tomorrow is not necessary. (Luke12:7)
  • the Christian is going to remember that God loves me more than I’ll be able on this side of heaven to understand. (John3:16)

So don’t look at tomorrow with dread but with joy! For the Christian, tomorrow is a happy event. Tomorrow is one step closer to being with Jesus forever.

So, rejoice in what is come tomorrow. Take a moment and mark it for thanksgiving and look tomorrow in the face with gladness.
